Sally Dworsky has harmonized - on stage and in the studio - with artists including R.E.M., Peter Gabriel, Shelby Lynne and Teddy Thompson, created with such veterans as Joe Henry (Bonnie Raitt, Aimee Mann), Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Madeleine Peyroux) and E of Eels, and co-fronted the L.A. alt-rock band Uma. When she wasn't busy building a reputation as a piercingly honest and incisive collaborator, Sally was providing the defining voices for lead characters in animated films including The Lion King, Prince of Egypt (both won Oscars for the songs she sang) and Shrek. Garrison Keillor has said that Sally has "the voice of an angel," but with her solo work she tells stories that are wholly of this world: time fades, loved ones pass, new life emerges and missed trains are sometimes blessings. In her own music, Sally explores the real-life mysteries of love and loss with a voice that is both heavenly and intensely down-to-earth.
